Helping with Our Parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
If you are interested in becoming more involved, the possibilities are so various
that anybody can plug in and help in some area. We are in need of catechists (teachers),
breaking open the Word, inquiry (faith sharing), sponsors, hospitality team, prayer
team, and mystagogy.
Catechists:
Catechists teach the faith to adults that are interested in becoming Catholic. Catechists
are scheduled about once a month and are needed between October and Easter to teach
adults interested in becoming Catholic.
Breaking open the Word:
The R.C.I.A. candidates leave mass each week to go through the Scripture readings.
You are on a schedule about once a month to lead the Scripture readings. This happens
September through Easter.
Inquiry:
Inquiry is a period between September and October. During this period we journey
with adults interested in becoming Catholic by sharing our own faith experience
and giving them an opportunity to share theirs.
Sponsors:
Help by being a one on one companion on the journey of faith with those interested
in becoming Catholic.
Hospitality:
Help needed to set-up/clean-up refreshments as well as setting up the classroom
to the liturgical season (i.e. colors/flowers, Bible, pictures/art/cross/advent
wreath etc.)
Prayer Team:
Help with the development of ways for our parish community to pray for adults going
through R.C.I.A.
Mystagogy:
Individuals needed to lead sessions for six weeks after Easter. The candidates have
received the initiation sacraments (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) at the
Easter Vigil.
Neophyte Year:
Parishioners that will help those who have become Catholic at Easter integrate themselves
into the parish life.
If you are able to help out in any of these areas please contact
Mr. Greg Callaghan
